Writing Opportunities...
a round-up to help you get your work into the world
Welcome to my monthly writing opportunity round-up! Every month, I’ll gather a range of submission calls and writing jobs to help you get your work into the world. It’s both the best and worst part of writing life, so I hope this makes it a little easier for you!
Top Tip
When you’re prepping your work for submission, give yourself enough time to check the submission guidelines and to read the terms and conditions. One important point to check is who holds the rights to any work you submit. I’ll be covering this in more detail in my workshop on subbing work on 15th November, and there are still spaces so do come along!
For now, make a brew, grab your diary and find a way to get your writing into the world. I love to find out how things are going for you, so have opened up the comments on this post so you can keep me up to date!
Closing Very Soon!

November Deadlines

Thousand Films – the company who brought the brilliant Extraordinary to our screens are looking for new TV scripts. It’s free to submit, and I definitely advise spending time looking over the Ts&Cs for this one. No closing date that I can see, but worth getting your work in as soon as you can.
Painkiller Prize – this is a great prize for scriptwriters with an idea with humour at its heart. The best news is that they’re looking for a pitch and not finished work. Applications open until 18th November and its free to submit.
Hannah Shepherd – another great offering here from a lovely agent who helps writers navigate the agent process. If you’re getting close but not quite there and want advice on your submission package, you can submit an application for one-to-one sessions. Open until 29th November.
Bridge Awards – the annual Emerging Writer award from Moniack Mhor opens for submissions from 1st-30th November. It’s free to submit and open to prose fiction writers working on novels or short story collections.

Happy writing everyone,
