Regular writing is not one of my strengths. I work in a famine or feast mode. I can spend days, weeks, sometimes months thinking and planning. Then the writing happens in a blur, in sprints, leaving me with swathes of words to wrestle and wrangle into a coherent story.
This approach has left me with a disordered notebook, unfinished projects, half formed ideas and the sound of deadlines whistling by. And I want to change. To be ready when an opportunity rears its head. To have work I’m happy with, polished and ready to send out into the world.
So that’s what I’m doing. I’ve made changes to my work life to help me find more dedicated time to write. Being a freelancer often means life is unpredictable, and precious time comes in waves. I’m hoping that the time I’ve freed up will give me space to make a regular writing commitment.
As I do this, I’ll share my progress, as well as opportunities I’ve found and writing related things I’m working on. This won’t be a regular newsletter, but one that gives you a window into my writing world and hopefully ideas for your own writing projects.
Thank you for joining me.
